GAMEPLAY
You are the guardian of the forest and our territory has been invaded by defective robots destroying trees. You need to break all the robots using spikes from your body.
Weapons and ammo are given by the trees for healing the damage. Combine abilities to defeat the enemy and regain your possessions.
Enemies:
1. Spherobots
- laser
- marksmanship
+ low health
Hand cannon takes out. 1 shot to the eye, otherwise 3. The big one is 1 hit and explodes.
2. Rombots
- buckshot
- strong
+ not very smart
Big gun takes out in three shots. Hand cannon takes 10 or 5, if you shoot them in the legs.
What I Learned from GreenD:
-
Developing shooter mechanics demands a wide range of skills—from animation and AI enemy behavior to UI design and projectile systems. I found it especially challenging to implement flying enemies; they require complex movement and targeting logic. I wouldn't recommend starting with them as a beginner—lesson learned the hard way, haha!
What I Would Do Differently:
-
In hindsight, I realize that introducing vertical level design too early disrupted the overall shooter flow. If the core gameplay doesn't feel solid on flat terrain, it's better to fix and balance it there before expanding to more complex mechanics in vertical or underwater environments.
What I Enjoyed Most:
-
I had a lot of fun creating a modular environment using a consistent color palette. It was rewarding to see how reusable assets could bring coherence and visual style to the world.
One Thing I Would Change:
-
If I could go back and improve one aspect of the project, it would be the main character's animations. Using more professional and polished animations would’ve helped enhance the overall quality and feel of the game.
