Trailer of new game called «ProCRAFTintaion»
Rescue your life and planet with knowledge of the cycle of life

What I Learned from ProCraftination:

  • This project taught me how to build foundational survival systems, including health, damage, and death mechanics, as well as a working inventory system that allowed players to pick up, craft, and spawn objects. I also implemented UI interfaces, basic animations, subtitle systems for cutscenes, simple sound integration, and interactive mechanics. It was my first experience combining all these elements into a cohesive gameplay loop and level.

What I Would Do Differently:

  • Looking back, I would simplify the crafting system and make the resources more meaningful. Instead of scattered, disconnected materials, I’d design them as interactive elements that shape the environment—like building platforms that directly influence navigation and exploration. I also believe the project would have benefited from a shorter scope and clearer progression milestones, helping the player stay engaged. Most importantly, I would devote more time to level design to support the core theme: that the player's health is intimately tied to the health of the world. This message deserves stronger environmental storytelling.

What I Enjoyed Most:

  • I truly enjoyed crafting the abstract alien world, where everything—visually and mechanically—reflects the player’s relationship with their environment. Designing that emotional connection presented creative challenges that I loved solving. I also had fun creating the flying space whales that appear near the end of the game! And despite the difficulty, finally seeing the inventory and crafting systems come to life was incredibly satisfying.

One Thing I Would Change:

  • If I could change one thing, I would cut the scope in half and focus deeply on developing the first two locations. Making early gameplay decisions impactful for both the player and the world would have strengthened the narrative and gameplay loop. A smaller, more refined experience would have better supported the emotional and ecological message of the game.
